Classes are organized by age groups: 11-14 years and 15-18 years. Time slots are divided between all-levels classes and advanced classes, lasting between 1 to 1.5 hours. Classes run throughout the year (September to June), excluding school holidays.Classes are group sessions, but the instructor tailors the teaching to each child’s level, whether beginner or advanced.
The lessons follow three stages:
Warm-up: To learn how to avoid injuries and improve focus.
Fun exercises on the climbing wall: Designed to develop basic skills related to vertical movement, balance, fear management and self-confidence, engagement and concentration, and especially safety. Learning to fall, land safely on the mats, and move efficiently both on the wall and around the gym are key points emphasized by the instructor.
Climbing exercises: Where youngsters progressively learn various climbing techniques and movements on routes adapted to their level.
The last few minutes of the class are dedicated to cooldown and stretching exercises.
Children and teenagers do not need any specific equipment. Climbing shoes are provided by the gym.We recommend wearing flexible sportswear that protects the knees (such as sweatpants or leggings). A simple t-shirt is sufficient for the top. There is no need to invest in chalk powder for children.
We kindly ask you to arrive 5 minutes early to try on your climbing shoes, get dressed, and allow younger children to use the restroom.
We recommend that those who can arrive already dressed in their climbing gear. The classes teach safe climbing practices in the gym, whether the child is accompanied by their parents (ages 10 to 13) or authorized for independent practice via parental consent (from age 14).Enrolling in a class grants access to all Climbing District gyms from September to August.
